Spring Market Activity

The recent weather may not seem like spring in the East Coast, but traffic during the open houses this past weekend, is a sure sign the Spring Market has hit.

The Donnelly Group Agents saw a flood of activity at their open houses and that is a good indication that we are finally shaking winter off.

As the last of the snowfall melts, buyers are more optimistic to head out. That, coupled with mortgage rates still at an all time low, means this is a great time for sellers to put their house on the market.

If you’ve been thinking about buying or selling, contact your Donnelly Group Agent today.

Saint Patrick’s Day or The Feast of St. Patrick’s is a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland…

The modern version of the holiday is largely an American export, celebrations gaining popularity as Irish immigrants asserted their cultural and political presence in American society. Parades in the U.S. started cropping up in the 1800s.

Here is a guide to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Garden City:

Days to SpringDon’t let the snow fool you. Spring is just around the corner! It’s time for everyone to start preparing. Let’s face it, we’ve all put on a few extra pounds – and homes have accumulated a few extras as well – and they’re not all good. How many of us still have holiday bags with gifts we’ve been meaning to exchange or return? What about the Christmas lights? It’s February people! What about the box of decorations? Is it still waiting to be put away? Valentine’s Day probably didn’t help either. It may have come and gone but those chocolates are probably still lingering. Ok, you can have one more – but that’s it! Time is ticking! With just 22 days to go, Spring will be here before you know it. Yes – 22 days – that’s it! Spring is officially here Friday, March 20th.

Here are some great tips to help get your house ready for Spring 2015!

– Deep Clean Carpets and Rugs – you should do this once or twice a year, it’s worth the investment to hire a professional
– Clean Out Medicine Cabinets – yes visitors will peak! purge expired meds, refill prescriptions, update toothbrushes, cosmetics, bandaids etc.,
– Declutter Your Home Office – organize bills and important documents, shred old credit card statements or unnecessary files, clear desk and tabletops
– Clean Windows/Treatments – wash drapes, dust blinds, wash glass panels as well as screens
– Garage/Tag Sales – tackle the kids’ playroom, messy closets and cluttered basement; this can be done in one weekend, enlist the whole family
– Basement Window Wells – make sure these are clean and clear
– Service Air Conditioners – clean/changes filters, test functionality – Summer is NOT when you want to find out your unit/system isn’t functioning properly
– Replace Doormats – the snow, ice and salt have surely done a number on your mats
– Roof Check – flashing should be tight and sealed, inspect shingles to ensure you can weather the soon to hit Spring storms
– Clean Gutters – if you didn’t do it in the fall, it definitely needs to be done now to prevent clogs that could result in water leaks in your house
– Power Wash – siding, driveways and walkways – this should be done twice a year
– Tree Trimming – the Spring kind – trim back trees and bushes to better showcase your house
– Hire a Home Inspector – find/prioritize any issues and make repairs as needed

If you’re considering putting your home on the market this Spring, contact your Donnelly Group agent(s) today to get help with this prep list and much more.

The Donnelly Group would like to congratulate Garden City resident ISABEL SMITH. She was the lucky winner of a brand new Amazon Fire Tablet. Isabel’s winning ticket was pulled from the many raffle tickets sold at homecoming on October 17th. The Donnelly Group would like to thank Isabel and everyone who bought a ticket that day. All the proceeds from the raffle go directly to Habitat for Humanity, furthering The Donnelly Groups efforts to take part in another day of building with the organization.

BOO! Don’t Scare Buyers Away!

Real Estate can certainly have its SCARY moments and it doesn’t have to be Halloween. Sometimes sellers haven’t taken the necessary steps to stage and care for their home before listing. recently listed things you can keep from scaring buyers away.

  • Watch for smells: Air out the house regularly by keeping the doors and windows open for a short amount of time.
  • Board pets: Keep pets — including any reptiles — at another place during showings and open houses.
  • Be ready to discount: If most buyers see your house as scary, you may need to be prepared to cut them a good deal.

From All of us at The Donnelly Group.. Happy Halloween!!!

We’re Back in Action!

This past Spring was one of the busiest seasons The Donnelly Group has experienced, inventory flew off the shelves, and prospective buyers came out to our open houses in droves.

After a restful Summer, the team is back in action.  We decided the best way for you to see how we operate is to create this blog, so you can track our progress and see how we work.

Here, you can find periodic articles relating to buying, selling, prepping your home for sale, as well as events on the communities we love!

Last week, we kicked off our first office meeting of the Fall.  Our catered breakfast meeting gave us the time to catch up with colleagues, discuss our goals for the Fall, and get re-energized for the season ahead.

Ryan consistently brings energy and vitality to our meetings, and continues to inspire our agents however he can.  Of the points he touched on during our meeting, were ways to increase visibility of our listings, continued investment in our business, prospecting, and using resources wisely.  His guidance and vision is always stimulating.  Ryan also urged us to continue our professional development and involvement in our community.

Last Wednesday, several of our agents participated in Habitat for Humanity.  Our agents put up sheetrock, nailed down siding, and hauled debris away.  It was an incredible experience, especially knowing that our efforts helped to benefit a family in need.

Below is a photo of that day, it definitely won’t be our last!!!
